Petunia by Roger Duvoisin (author and illustrator) – Petunia is a silly goose who thinks she can become smart if she carries around a book. She proceeds to make a mess of the farm, and then realizes that she needs to actually learn to read to become smart. The first book in a series about Petunia.







How The Witch Got Alf by Cora Annett (author) and Steven Kellogg (illustrator) to p. 19 – Alf is a donkey who thinks he is the only one in the household who really works and doesn't receive anything for his troubles. He decides to run away forever, and ends up on the roof of the cottage to carry out his plan.

He decides to run away forever, and ends up on the roof of the cottage to carry out his plan. The couple who work the farm think that Alf has been taken by witches, and after two days, they decide that they will get a new donkey. Alf hears this and decides to come down. And they all live happily ever after.
